store heat
geothermal storage
Solar thermal and photovoltaic thermal systems can use geothermal storage to store the excess thermal energy generated in the summer to be used during winter.
Suitable for large developments and community heating systems where costs can be shared across several buildings. Single domestic users and commercial businesses with high hot water usage should phase change materials for thermal storage.
types of geothermal storage
closed earth loop system
This requires drilling a 50-150 meter bore hole with the exact depth of the hole determined by the bedrock. Having the space and the correct underlying geology for drilling such a deep hole means this solution is site specific. Contact us to find out if your project will be suitable.
open aquifer system
The open aquifer system requires the additional cost of a heat pump. Extra heat generation and the long term maintenance and running costs need to be taken into account.
