Karl Walker

Karl is a sustainability and energy entrepreneur and project manager (APM), providing organisational and project planning, strategy and technical delivery. With 20 years of expertise in major infrastructure, building design and construction he led the green agenda for the UKs most sustainable public building, Brent Civic Centre which achieved 6 Sustainability Awards including the Edie Sustainability Leaders Award, 2013, the RIBA Regional Sustainability Award, 2014 and the BREEAM Mixed Use Award, 2015. Karl developed the Phase 1, sustainability strategy for the £4billion Thames Tideway Tunnel, whilst at AECOM.

Karl is a director of the Carbon Free Group (CIC), developing projects to accelerate decarbonisation in the built environment. He is a managing shareholder of Brakkn Ltd, an energy campaign consultancy and social enterprise (B Corp) specialising in transitioning homes and business to low carbon and renewable supply.

With his entrepreneurial spirit and creative flare, Karl is building, developing and advising start-ups including ‘Clean Energy UK’ the 'Big Clean Switch' and ‘Calyx’. With an active interest in blockchain and DLT technology he is driving forward our microgrid as a service platform ‘Power Transition’, and is an advisor to Task.io. Having trained with Former Vice President Al Gore & The Climate Reality Project, Karl presents and facilitates workshops on climatic change. Karl is qualified in Renewable Energy Management & Finance (EEC), Construction Project Management (RICS) and is a sustainable building assessor with a postgraduate in Sustainable Development (MBEnv).
